A new catch-phrase

PinkPolish came up with this really great catch-phrase. And since I'm in a dedicatory kinda mood, I thought I would send it out to one person in particular who keeps coming back to read this blog even though he should move on with his life. IT'S OVER BUDDY.

"When the going gets tough, off yourself."

A great night out

I've spend the last couple of days studying pretty hard for classes, but I decided to take a hiatus and head out with a couple of good friends from school for a birthday dinner.

We went to a local pub called "The Duke of York" and enjoyed some pub food and really really good Long Island iced teas. (One sip and you were drunkity drunk drunk) Anyways, besides the birthday girl, there was one other person whom I've known for a quite a while now through school and having taken some classes with her. I never realized though, that we are so similar. I really got to know her tonight and it was awesome!

Beyond that, the day was pretty uneventful. I'm off to go study on a Saturday night. Yeah, I said it. Sacrifices must be made to walk the path that I have chosen to venture.

One wedding and a night of new experiences

I was prepared for this past weekend to be uneventful and full of homework from school. But then I got a call from my good friend EuroChick who asked me to be her date for a wedding she had to attend. I was completely up for it, but boy, I didn't know what I was getting myself into.
We arrived at the reception hall at 6:30pm, which is what the invitation said, however, the bride and groom did not arrive until 8:00pm. Let me tell you, not only were the guests hungry, but they were getting restless. Now keep in mind, this is not just another wedding - this is an Indian wedding - one that will go down in the books for being totally awesome!
Once the bride and groom arrive, the fun can begin. Speeches were made, drinks were served, and the entertainment arrived. Have you ever been to a wedding where there were "The women of the Nile" belly dancers or even Indian dance groups who totally kick butt? I hadn't, until this past Saturday. These guys were totally rocking! It made me want to take belly dancing lessons, which I'm still thinking about doing.
Anyways, after watching these women swivel around like the water in the Nile, an Indian dance group came on that had some really kick ass moves. They were all over the place. The music was upbeat and fun, it made you want to get up and dance yourself, which we eventually did. This is the one part of the wedding that I found odd. The dancing came first, the food came later. We all got up on the dancefloor and busted a move. I'm not exactly sure how to dance to Indian songs, but I watched a few people in action and then mimicked the moves, and also threw in some signature LemonDrop hip/bum shakes and screwing in the light bulb and patting the dog moves. It was so much fun! After a while, the music got a little bit repetitive. It felt like the same song had been playing over and over again.
So finally, EuroChick and I left, and came back to our humble abode, at which point she told me that I'm next. I turned, looked at her, and laughed - for a very long time.
So that was my weekend. Besides the wedding, I did a whole lot of nothing, and since school is back in session, I once again, have no life, until PinkPolish drags me out.
